Which fabric should you choose for your abaya?
The fabric makes all the difference: it determines the drape, the comfort and the season in which you wear your abaya.
- Soie de Médine: the most popular fabric for abayas. Fluid and slightly matte, it barely creases and drapes perfectly. Ideal for everyday wear as well as special occasions.
- Satin: shiny and luminous, it gives a dressy look. The choice for evening, wedding and ceremony abayas.
- Pashmina: soft, thick and enveloping. It is the fabric of autumn and winter abayas, often in a kimono cut.
- Sheer fabric (chiffon): light and airy, it adds movement. Perfect for summer or worn over an under-dress.
- Nidha and crepe: two classic fabrics of Gulf abayas, light, breathable and easy to care for.
Choosing the right size
Abayas are chosen according to your height: 54 from 1.56 m to 1.60 m, 56 from 1.61 m to 1.65 m, 58 from 1.66 m to 1.70 m, 60 from 1.71 m to 1.75 m. Each product page states the size worn by our model (1.73 m). Full details in our size guide.
